As tide is more of an issue here, we arrived at the beach with 2 hours to go until high tide. Once again there was a nice onshore wind blowing and some people were already on the water. After yesterdays false start I was not keen to be underpowered again and rigged the 6.7 from the start, but made sure there was lots of down and outhaul.

Once again I was straight on to the plane and off across the bay. At the other side of the bay the waves were much bigger and were fun to play on, but challenging to water-start in!

Once again I managed to play on the face of some ‘waves’ and managed some nice foot-steering on the top and bottom of the waves (top and bottom turns?). I also managed some good attempts at chop hops, one of them nearly made it completely out of the water and resulted in major spin-out for about 50 yards….at least I can recover from this most of the time now!

Best sailor of the day was about 7 years old and was showing everyone up! Twisty jumps off the wave face, chops hops, pumping onto the plane, hooking in with barely a tremor and constantly looking over his shoulder to make sure that the ‘fans’ were watching!

As I sailed past the wife (still very pregnant and unable to sail) I risked a prolonged ‘poseur wave’….all was fine until a real wave hit the board and I ended up kissing the boom….wow do the ribs hurt!

Storm clouds were now very close and I retired to the beach. After the lightening had passed I decide to give it one more go, but was completely overpowered. Screamed down the beach on the waves, tried to drown myself in the waves and then screamed back again bouncing around on the tail of the board…..oooooppsss, should have changed down a sail and board size!

Never-mind, despite the injury, it was still a great sail and for the second day running gets the all elusive 5 star stoke rating!
